You may please find below a brief overview of the main new features added in version 1.1 of Event Portal
New search form and more search options added
The new search form allows to search the event listings
by location, keyword and date and has also links to browse
the events by map, by calendar and links to the advanced search and
the page for creating email alerts (allowing the users to create
email alerts and be notified when new event listings matching
their search criteria are posted on the website).
Improved functionality to customize the website colors
The administrator can easily customize the website colors (from Template->Colors in the admin panel) and this will reflect
now also the colors in the user admin panels (except of just the main site as in previous versions).
The administrator can also edit easily the website texts, the home slider and background image,
set if featured event listings or latest event listings should show up there or own slides etc.
New functionality to browse the events by map and track the user's location to show him events around his location
The new functionality allows the users to browse all the events
posted on the site by map and it can also track the user's location
(which is taken automatically by using the navigator.geolocation browser object)
and show him events around his location. The browse by map shows up
also in the filters of the upcoming events and other pages allowing to
show the search results on a map.
Reviews and comments for the events
Except the previous functionality to write reviews for the
event organizing companies, we now added also the functionality
for the users to write reviews or share comments for the events.
This allows the users to also share their reviews, comments and recommendations for
the passed events. By default we made possible for all visitors of the site
to be able to read the reviews, but only the registered users on the site
to be able to write their own reviews.
Browse the events by calendar
With this new page the users can quickly browse the events
by months or years, so they could easily see the upcoming or passed events.
To be easily distinguishable, the different events show up with different
colors on the map.
New improved admin panels for the event organizers and registered users on the site
The new panels offer better navigation with shortcuts, notifications and side navigation menu in
order to make all the functions quickly accessible and to be as easy to use as possible.
The design and main color in the user and event organizing companies admin panels now also change when the administrator
is customizing the site colors from the main administration panel.
New functionality allowing to enter the event description in multiple languages
When the site is configured by the administrator to be multi-language, this
new functionality allows the users to enter the event title and description in multiple languages (from the ones added by the administrator).
In this way for example the event organizer can enter a description of his event
in Spanish language, so when Spanish is translated, the event information on the main site
will be shown in Spanish.
New pages and changes in the main menu
We did changes in the main menu to offer better navigation
to the users and added pages like Upcoming Events and Passed Events and moved
other pages in the bottom menu. With the functionality in the admin panel
the administrator is also free to add new pages, rename or remove any of the existing
ones or edit their content.
