Static SEO urls are known to be better than dynamic urls because of a number of reasons
1. Static urls typically Rank better in Search Engines.
2. Search engines are known to index the content of dynamic pages a lot slower compared to static pages.
3. Static urls are always more friendlier looking to the End Users
To activate them, it's necessary to change the following setting in the configuration file on your website (please see the list of the names of the configuration files for the different products below):
//SET TO YES IF YOU HAVE MOD_REWRITE AND YOU WOULD LIKE TO MAKE
//THE LINKS ON THE FRONT SITE SEO
$USE_MOD_REWRITE = false;
to
$USE_MOD_REWRITE = true;
The setting is called "use mod rewrite", because the mod_rewrite module is used to handle the SEO urls. Please note that this functionality requires mod_rewrite to be enabled on your server/hosting package (which is the case for most of the Linux shared hosting packages). In a case you don't have this module on your server/hosting package, you will need to keep the default url format, dynamic urls.
The configuration files are:
/include/cars_config.php for Car Portal
/jobs_config.php for Jobs Portal
/config.php for Real Estate Portal
Please note that for security reasons it's not possible to see or edit the configuration file directly from web/the admin panel.
There are 2 options which could be used:
- by ftp, the file can be opened with ftp, then edit it using your preferred text editor (like Notepad or another one) and upload it back on the website
- or by using the "File Manage" in the hosting package control panel, for example for cPanel it could be found on yourwebsite.com/cpanel, login and then go to the File Manager from where you could open and edit the file
