The config.php file

Learn every option in Blog Lite 2 config.php: time zone, debug mode, data and upload folders, maximum upload size and AI SSL verification.

Most settings are changed in the admin panel under Settings. The file config.php only holds a few technical options. You edit it with any text editor.

return [
    'timezone'      => 'UTC',
    'debug'         => false,
    'data_dir'      => __DIR__ . '/data',
    'upload_dir'    => __DIR__ . '/uploads',
    'max_upload_mb' => 5,
    'ai_verify_ssl' => true,
];

The options

OptionDefaultWhat it does
timezoneUTCThe time zone used for post dates and comment times. Use a name from the PHP time zone list, for example Europe/London or America/New_York.
debugfalseWhen true, PHP errors are shown on screen. Turn it on only while fixing a problem, then turn it off.
data_dirdata folderWhere the XML files are stored. The folder must be writable.
upload_diruploads folderWhere uploaded images are stored. The folder must be writable.
max_upload_mb5Largest image you can upload, in megabytes. Your server may have a lower limit (upload_max_filesize in php.ini).
ai_verify_ssltrueWhether to verify the SSL certificate when contacting the AI service. Set to false only on a local test server that shows an SSL error.

Examples

Set your time zone

'timezone' => 'Europe/Berlin',

Move the data folder outside the web root

For extra safety you can store the data folder above the public web folder:

'data_dir' => '/home/youraccount/blog-data',

Create the folder first and make it writable, and move the existing XML files into it.

Careful

Keep the commas and quotes exactly as they are. A typo can make the site show a blank page. If that happens, set debug to true to see the message, or restore your backup of the file.
