Upgrade the script or move to a new server

Your content is separate from the script files, so both upgrading and moving are safe and simple.

Upgrade to a new version

1. Make a backup of your website.
2. Unzip the new version on your computer.
3. Upload it over your website, but do not overwrite: the data folder, uploaded_images, thumbnails and config.php. Also skip any template folder you customised.
4. Open the admin panel, check the dashboard and view your website.

Move to another host or domain

1. Download the whole website folder, including hidden .htaccess files, from the old host.
2. Upload it to the new host, in the root or a subfolder.
3. Check the requirements and folder permissions on the new server.
4. Point your domain to the new host.
5. Log in, check the System status and send a test message from the contact form.

The script uses relative links, so moving to a different folder or domain needs no change to your content.

Moving to a different address

If the web address of your pages changes, set up 301 redirects from the old to the new addresses and tell Google through Search Console, so you keep your search rankings.
