The booking process
A booking in PHP Car Rental is a request that the car owner (or you, for your own cars) confirms. The customer does not pay anything at this stage.
Step by step for the customer
- Choose pick-up and return dates in the booking box of the car page.
- Select the pick-up and drop-off location, pick-up time and optional extras. Enter a coupon if you have one.
- Check the price, enter name, e-mail and phone and click Request booking.
- A confirmation page shows the booking code (for example
CR-A1B2C3D) and the price details.
Guests can book without an account. If you want to require registration, tick Customers must log in to book in General settings.
Statuses
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Pending | New request. It already blocks the dates. |
| Confirmed | Accepted by the owner or administrator. |
| Rejected | Declined. |
| Cancelled | Cancelled by the customer or the owner. |
| Completed | The rental has ended. |
E-mails
- The customer receives an e-mail when the request is received and when it is confirmed, rejected or cancelled.
- The car owner (or the administrator e-mail for company cars) receives a notice about every new request.
E-mails need a working mail setup. See E-mail and SMTP for sender and SMTP settings.
Protection against abuse
The booking form checks a security token and limits how many requests one visitor can send in a short time. Dates in the past and unavailable cars are rejected.
