Export poll votes to CSV
Download all votes of a poll as a CSV file that opens in Excel or Google Sheets. See which columns are exported and how PHPPoll protects against formula injection.
Need the raw data for a report, a spreadsheet or a presentation? Export the votes of any poll as a CSV file with one click.
How to export
- Open the poll's results page. See The results page.
- Click Export CSV in the top right.
- Your browser downloads
poll-POLLID-YYYY-MM-DD.csv. - Open it in Excel, Numbers, LibreOffice or import it into Google Sheets.
Columns in the file
| Column | Content |
|---|---|
| Date | Date and time of the vote (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS). |
| Answer | The text of the chosen option(s), the star value, the 0–10 score, or "Other: text". |
| Your name | Name entered by the voter (if collected). |
| Your email | Email address (if collected). |
| Your comment | Comment (if collected). |
| Device | Desktop, Mobile or Tablet. |
| Website | The domain where an embedded poll was used. |
The newest votes come first. Multiple choice answers are separated by commas inside the Answer cell.
Excel and encoding
The file is encoded in UTF-8 with a byte-order mark, so accented and non-Latin characters display correctly in Excel. Headers use the language selected in the settings. See Translate PHPPoll into your language.
Safe against formula injection
Spreadsheet programs run text that starts with =, +, - or @ as a formula. PHPPoll adds a leading apostrophe to such texts in names, emails, comments and answers, so a malicious voter cannot run formulas on your computer.
Other ways to keep your data
- For a complete copy of all polls and votes use the XML backup. See Backup, restore and moving to a new server.
