The standalone poll website

PHPPoll includes a ready poll website that lists your open and past polls with your logo, tagline and share buttons. Learn how to configure it and get pretty links.

Besides embedding polls into other pages, PHPPoll comes with a complete public website. Open https://www.example.com/poll/ (the folder where you installed the script) and your visitors see a clean page with all your polls.

The standalone poll website shows open polls and past polls as cards.

What the poll website shows

  • A header with your logo or site name and a tagline.
  • Open polls as cards with title, description, poll type, number of votes and a Vote now link.
  • Past polls (closed, ended or full) so visitors can still read their results.
  • A footer with your own text and, optionally, the "Powered by PHPPoll" credit.

Draft polls and scheduled polls are never listed. Only you, when logged in to the admin panel, can open a draft by its link.

A single poll page

Every poll also has its own page at index.php?p=POLL_ID. It contains the voting form, the results, a link back to all polls and buttons to share the poll on X, Facebook, LinkedIn or copy the link. The page title and social preview use the poll question, which is good for search engines and social networks.

Settings for the poll website

Open Settings in the admin panel:

  • General: site name, tagline, logo, footer text and the "Powered by" credit.
  • Public site → Show the list of polls: switch it off if you only want to use direct links or embeds. The home page then shows a short message.
  • Public site → Pretty poll links: turns links into /poll/abc123. This needs Apache with mod_rewrite and the included .htaccess file.

See Settings for all options.

Not using the standalone site? Simply ignore it and embed the polls in your own pages instead: Share and embed polls.
