First steps after installation
Follow this checklist to turn a fresh installation into a branded, working job board.
1. Secure your administrator account
Open /ADMIN, log in, then go to Home → Change Password and choose a strong password. Then open Admin Users to update the e-mail and name of the administrator. See roles and permissions.
2. Name and brand the website
- Settings → Configuration Options → General Settings: website name, admin contact e-mail, time zone, SEO URLs and multi-language switch.
- Website → Logo & Favicon: upload your logo and favicon. See logo and templates.
- Settings → Configuration Options → Appearance: accent color, secondary color, font, button shape and footer color.
- Settings → Configuration Options → Company Information: company name, address, phone and e-mail shown on the site.
3. Configure e-mail
Registration, password reset and alerts depend on e-mail. Open Settings → Configuration Options → E-mail, set the sender name and address and, if your host does not allow PHP mail(), enable SMTP and enter the server details. See general settings.
4. Decide how your marketplace works
Open Job Settings → Configuration Options and choose: manual approval of jobs and employers, job lifetime, free jobs for new employers, captcha and e-mail validation. All options are explained in Job Portal settings.
5. Set your pricing
Open Payments → Payment Settings and choose how employers are charged (free site, packages, subscriptions or credits), the currency and the payment methods. Then create your packages or subscriptions.
6. Adapt categories and locations
Edit the lists for your niche in Job Categories and Locations. Remove what you do not need before you invite users.
7. Review pages, menus and legal texts
Edit the pages and menu, write your Privacy Policy and Terms of Service, and set up the GDPR cookie notice.
8. Test as every role
Register a test employer and a test jobseeker from the public site. Post a job, apply to it, send a message and check that the e-mails arrive. Use the Users section to remove test accounts afterwards.
