Import statistics from VisitAnalytics 1.x
Version 2 has a new data format, but your old daily XML files can be imported so that your history is not lost.
Before you start
- Install version 2 in its own folder and finish the The first-time setup wizard.
- The old version's data folder (called
data) must be reachable from the website folder. Simply leave the old VisitAnalytics folder where it is, for exampleVisitAnalytics-old. - The old files are named like
25-10-2026.xml(day-month-year) and contain<visit>records.
Importing
- Open Settings → Data and find Import from VisitAnalytics 1.x.
- Enter the folder relative to your website folder, for example
VisitAnalytics-old/data. - Press Import. A message tells you how many visits were imported.
- Remove the old tracking line from your
index.php, then delete the old folder when you are happy with the result.
What is imported
Time, IP address, country, page, referrer, browser (with the new short names such as "Chrome"), version, operating system and the mobile flag. Details version 1 never recorded (language, device model, screen size...) stay empty. Imported visits have no browser string, so they appear as visitors with a unique hash per IP address.
Import only once. Running the import twice creates duplicate visits. If that happens, delete the data of those days and import again (Your data: where statistics are stored, backup and deleting data). The old counters feature (several counters in one installation) is not part of version 2.
